Sermon Notes 6/29/25

David’s requests:

1 Give me mercy

Mercy is God not giving us what we deserve.

2 Make me clean (spiritually)

What dirt is to the physical body, sin is to spiritual body

hyssop’ – a shrub with hairy stems used by the priest to sprinkle blood or water on people for ceremonial cleansing

3 Renew and restore me

“Lord I want to be back in right standing with You.”

4 Use me again

5 Give me a heart of praise

God doesn’t want religious activities without spiritual substance. He wants praise from a genuine heart.

6 Prosper and protect your people

David’s sin had:

A Weakened Israels position among other nations

B Given his people an excuse to sin and turn away from God.

Your sin is not the end of you, nor your ministry
